The Trencherman's Guide is a collection of the best restaurants and hotels in the South West. All businesses invited to be included in the guide must meet strict quality criteria.

Each year the Trencherman's Guide committee meet to establish who is to be invited to join the guide and how to provide the consumer with the best information for choosing where to eat out and stay.

This dedication to quality ensures that customers can be confident they will receive the best hospitality experience possible.

The Restaurants

The restaurants featured in The Trencherman’s Guide are invited to be in the guide on the basis of their consistently high ratings across a selection of top international publications. These include The Michelin Guide, The Good Food Guide and the AA Restaurant Guide.

A panel of top industry representatives from across South West England have developed the unique scoring system, ensuring that the guide offers outstanding quality.

Book Ahead

For those visiting the South West and using this guide to plan your stay, we do recommend that you make reservations for lunch and dinner in advance. The Trencherman’s Guide is very popular with us locals and we don’t leave securing a table to chance – particularly on weekends and bank holidays!
