“I’m delighted to introduce you to the 2012/2013 edition of The Trencherman’s Guide.
This is the 20th edition, a huge milestone in its history and testament to its success as a creditable guide to the best restaurants in the South West.

This new edition is also the largest yet. I have worked with The Trencherman’s Guide since the 2004/2005 edition, but it was launched back in 1992 by Kit Chapman of The Castle Hotel in Taunton and Paul Henderson of Gidleigh Park Hotel. The aim was to provide a trustworthy guide to the truly exceptional places to dine in the region. It’s come a long way since those early days. This year you can download the digital version from the digital newsstand in the Apple iTunes store, find us through QR codes and book your table online. However, one thing that remains the same is the criteria for quality on which the entries are judged. The restaurants featured are invited to be in the guide on the basis of consistently high ratings across a selection of top international publications, including the Michelin Guide, The Good Food Guide and the AA Restaurant Guide.
